Learn to Cook at Julia Child's House in Provence

Updated Feb 25, 2019

Judy Witts, Otherwise known as the Diva of Divina Cucina, alerted us today through her twitter post of Cooking with Friends in France where you can learn all about French Cucina Povera while basking in the ambiance of Julia Childs former Provence digs.

Guests reside on the property where Julia Child and Simone (Simca) Beck lived while they collaborated on their cookbook, Mastering the Art of French Cooking, and where Simca ran a cooking school. The house, called La Pitchoune, is a classic Provencal style farmhouse with tiled roof and colored shutters. The house is on a hillside among olive trees, cypresses, and vineyards over looking Grasse and the village of Plascassier. It is hard to believe that less than an hour beyond this rural countryside lie the bright lights of Monte Carlo and the world famous beaches of the Côte d’Azur.

Update

The cooking school above took place in 2009. The house of Julia Childs and Simone Beck has changed hands and is now called La Peetch. The good news is that you can rent the house for a vacation rental or for a wedding. A cooking school is planned as well. Click the link to find out all you need to know.

Get thee to France. Learn the cheese. Eat on a blanked spread out under the olive trees.
